My husband and I had a fantastic four-night stay at a river lodge. The units were spotlessly clean and comfortable, with top-class facilities. The staff were friendly and helpful, creating a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. We enjoyed scenic walks and even spotted a herd of animals. The lodge's location provided a perfect escape from city life, with large grounds for children to explore. We will definitely be returning next year.
The lodge does not have a nearby shop, so remember to bring everything you need.

As a traveler, I was pleasantly surprised by the hidden gem that is Stonehill River Lodge. Tucked away on Stonehill Mountain, the property offers stunning views of the Breede River. The peaceful location and lush surroundings, including rolling grass, green trees, and shrubs, create a tranquil atmosphere. There are plenty of exciting activities, such as canoeing and archery, as well as opportunities for bird watching and exploring the hiking trail with its diverse flora and fauna. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. The villa we stayed in, Villa 3, was right in front of the river, offering breathtaking views. Additionally, the on-site Jacuzzi was a great way to relax and take in the scenery. Another highlight is the lack of crowds at the pools and other areas, giving guests a sense of privacy. The outdoor movie nights under the stars were a hit, especially for the kids. Stonehill River Lodge provided a peaceful and memorable experience for me and my family and friends.
I felt spoiled during my stay at Stonehill River Lodge and have no complaints.

The resort had beautiful surroundings with magnificent views. The long stretch of green grass by the riverbank was a great place for relaxation. The availability of games and entertainment for both kids and adults was a nice touch. Additionally, the close proximity to the nearby town was convenient for buying products instead of having to bring everything from home.
The gravel road leading to the lodge was a bit rough and could be better maintained. The distance to the nearest shop for supplies was quite far, which could be inconvenient for some guests.

I had the most amazing honeymoon at a hidden gem in the Western Cape. The drive through the dry roads made us question our destination, but as soon as we entered the gate, we were welcomed by a paradise like no other. The private jacuzzi on the patio was pure luxury and the accommodation was of the highest quality. We enjoyed picnics by the fast-flowing river and made use of the swimming pool, chess, swings, and trampoline. The staff was excellent and made our stay truly memorable. I didn't want to leave this idyllic place.

Quiet and free from disturbances
I absolutely loved my stay at Stonehill River Lodge. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind. The peaceful and quiet environment was exactly what I needed to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The lodge is tucked away in a tranquil location, allowing me to reconnect with nature and find inner peace.
The only minor inconvenience I encountered was the lack of a shop on the premises and the distance to convenience stores. However, I quickly learned to come prepared and bring along everything I needed.
